How to make a Fringe Heart for Valentines Day

If you need a last minute decoration idea for your son or daughters Vday party we have the perfect and easiest DIY! We did this with just a few inexpensive supplies and its sure to make a LOVING and lasting impression! :)

Supplies you will need:

  • Scissors

  • Glue gun and glue sticks

  • Crepe Paper or Fringe Streamers

  • Cardboard

  • Exacto Knife

  • Ruler and pencil

Step 1- We used a cardboard box we had laying around. No need to be pretty, it will be covered:) Cut out a giant heart with the Exacto Knife. The Exacto Knife makes its easy to get the curves of the heart nice and round. If you need one, we linked one here.

Step 2- We then measured out how thick we wanted the stripes. We used a large fabric ruler like the one linked here. We made sure the stripes would appear even across the entire heart and marked it with a pencil.

Step 3- We cut the Crepe Paper into strips to match the length of the heart. We then cut tiny slits in the Crepe Paper to create the fringe effect. TIP: We were able to find some Fringe Streamers in a few colors that made this a lot easier! :) We have an example linked here.

Step 4- Glue on the strips with the glue gun. Making sure to layer each color a few times to get a think and full effect. TIP: We layered each color 7 times:)

TA DA!

You have a festive fringe heart that is perfect for a party, hanging over your mantel or better yet give it as a giant token of affection to someone you love!
